Refreshments were lemon ice box pie, ham biscuits, cheese straws, pickle and coffee. 4-H Club News • The Zebulon Community 4-H Club had it; second meeting Ap j ril 13 at the home of Avon Privette, | Jr. President Lewis Liles led the I club in the 4-H pledge and mot ! to. Privette called the roll. Mrs. H. K. Baker and Mrs. Avon Priv ette, Sr., were also present for the meeting. H. Bruce Butler, assistant county agent, also attended. Joan Baker gave a sewing dem onstration for the girls. Mr. But ler gave a lecture on the impor tance of plant roots to the boys. Linda Green and Kay Antone entered the enriched corn meal muffin contest. They wound up in a tie. Refreshments were served at the end of the meeting. On March 10 the following of ficers were elected: Lewis Liles, president; Joan Baker, vice presi dent; Avon Privette, Jr., secretary treasurer-reporter; and Dan Per ry and Cheryl Gay, song leaders. The club’s name was also chosen at this meeting. The next meeting is scheduled for May 11. Avon Privette, Jr., Reporter Resignations? Is Wakelon School to have a big teacher turn-over next year? Principal John J. Hicks reported Friday only one teacher has sub mitted a resignation. He said he could not reveal this teacher’s name pending the School Board's action in May. Hicks did say that this position has already been filled. Some reports have indicated that Coach Maurice Chapman, Band Director Herbert Ireland, Miss Jackie Culler, French-Eng lish teacher and Mrs. Marie Webb, commercial education instructor, may resign. The work will include the fol lowing: Water Distribution—1650 L.F., 6” C. I. Mechanical Joint Pipe, 60 L.F., 2” Galv. Water Line, com plete with appurtenances. Sanitary Sewer—1380 L.F., 8” Terra Cotta Pipe, 5 ea. Manholes. Proposals must be sealed and marked “BID FOR WATER AND SANITARY SEWER LINES FOR THE TOWN OF ZEBULON, NORTH CAROLINA,” % W. B. Each bid must be accom panied by a bidders bond or cer tified check in the amount of five per cent (5%) of the bid. Plans, copies of the proposals, contracts and specifications, etc., may be obtained upon application to the Engineer, John A. Edwards, Consulting Engineer, P. O. Box 10421, Raleigh, North Carolina. A plan deposit of ten dollars ($10.00) will 'be refunded to bona fide bid ders who return the plans and specifications in a clean, complete condition within seven (7) days after opening of bids. A performance bond will be re quired in an amount to equal one hundred per cent (100%) of the contract price, conditioned upon the faithful performance of the contract and upon the payment in full to all persons supplying la bor and furnishing materials for and in connection with the con struction of the project. The Town of Zebulon, North Carolina, reserves the right to in crease or diminish the quantities given in the proposal. They also reserve the right to award con tracts which appear to be for their best interest.
